When Things Don't Work OUT

You've been dreaming of the day when you can take that trip to Tahiti, or retire and never have to work for anyone again. But somewhere between the dream and reality, things just don't seem to work out. If you're like my husband, you attempt to dot every I and cross every T before making a decision. On the other hand, if you're like me, you are a risk-taker without fear.

No matter which side of the spectrum you fall on, it can seem that no matter what you do, your dreams will never be a reality.

You might even feel that following your dreams has caused your life to be a mess of confusion, chaos, and calamity. Well, let's make a quick list of some of the greats who have experienced the same thing:

• Phil Knight: Creator of Nike--couldn't afford to pay his employees

• Walt Disney: Creator of Disney World--filed bankruptcy in 1923

• Tyler Perry: American actor, filmmaker, and playwright, owner of Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta--was homeless

• Marie Callender: Mother, baker, entrepreneur--in 1948 she sold the family car in order to start her baking business, eventually had to close 3 of her restaurants

• Steve Jobs: Creator of Apple--in 1996 had to sell his company because it was on the verge of collapse due to a huge financial loss

• Marc Ecko: American fashion designer, creator of the fashion company, Ecko Unlimited--filed bankruptcy and in 2009 had to sell 51% of his company

• Daymond Johns: Creator of the clothing brand FUBU-turned down by 27 banks for a business loan
